Do I Need A Juvenile Criminal Mischief Attorney?

Simply put, yes, if your child was charged with criminal mischief, you need to retain a defense attorney to represent them in court.

The attorneys at Rosenthal Kalabus & Therrian will be able to explain the exact nature of the charges made against your child, and the penalties that those charges carry. They will also explain the defenses available to fight the charges, and their likelihood of success.

Our juvenile criminal defense attorneys will begin our representation by interviewing you and your child about the facts of the case in order to glean as many details as possible about the circumstances that lead to the criminal mischief charges. This will enable us to evaluate any possible defenses. It will also give your attorney a good picture of the strengths and weaknesses of your case.

Your attorney will also conduct their own investigation into the charges alleged, looking for all possible ways to have the charges dismissed. This may include speaking to witnesses with information about the specific incident. It may also include looking into the police investigation and procedures.

As your trial date approaches, your attorney will speak with the prosecutors and review the State’s evidence against your child. This permits your attorney to evaluate the strength of the State’s case and to find evidence to refute the evidence against your child.

After collecting and analyzing the evidence, your juvenile criminal defense attorney will offer an opinion as to whether the charges can be defeated or not.

If you and your family decide to pursue a plea deal, your attorney will negotiate the best plea possible considering the specific circumstances of your case.

On the other hand, if you wish to go to trial, your lawyer will be ready to represent your child by moving to exclude evidence, cross-examining witnesses, and, if necessary, presenting evidence on your child’s behalf.
